Q: Is your name really Peter John Lindsay or is that a stage name?

A: Yes, it is. Don't wikipedia my name. It will get you an Austraila
politician, however, if you wikipedia the term "Balloon Modeling" you will
see a photo of my fish display and a comparison of bears.

Q: Did you go to school to learn balloon twisting?

A: No, but I have taught several clown classes and also helped
C.L.O.W.N.S. teach at Waukesha County Technical College clown course.

Q: How did you learn how to twist balloons?

A: When I started doing balloons (20 years ago) there were no dvds, very
few videos and basic books out there. I learned many of the basics from
books and a few things from videos. Most of the things I do I either
learned from other artist sharing ideas or experimenting and creating on
my own.

Q: How often do your balloons pop?

A: If the balloon quality is high, the supply is fresh (less than 6 months)
and you leave enough room for the air to go it will not pop that often.
They still do pop... but not enough to give it a second thought.

Q: How long do your balloons last?

A: Balloon times vary upon many factors... quality of balloon, exposure to
sun, heat and how often they are moved. Although they will shrink the
balloons tend to look good for a few days. It is often fun to let the
balloons shrink naturally over a few weeks to see the changes that the
balloon goes through to see if it holds its shape.

Q: Why did you choose to go into balloon twisting?

A: I started off a a magician and worked in a party novelty store. I started
twisting balloons to learn another skill to add to my magic show. I soon
found out that if I made balloons at the end of a show the kids would rush
toward me and not want to handle my props, so I practiced and learned a
bit more. Soon I was getting more calls for balloons than magic, so I
switched my show to what the people wanted. I have not looked back
since. The balloon market is relatively new business dating back to the
1930s. In the last decade it is amazing what people have created and with
the internet to share ideas with other twisters it can only get more
exciting.

Q: Do you do this for a living?

A: I do not have another job at this time. Balloons are what help pay my
bills.
